No nothing actually - except the belief that it will all work out eventually. Always tell the truth to the client - even if it costs you the assignment. If it stops being fun, and being a burden, we will stop the company. Never take money unless we have added value. These were never written down per se, but they were always there to guide us through. Both Rowena and I knew nothing of running a company - all we knew was that if we held true to ideals we believed in, anything we did would become successful.īefore we did anything else, we came up with some values for ourselves. We had our first 'Directors Meeting' at our then home in Ja-Ela, with my little daughter looking on and being quite enthralled by the conversation (she was only 2!) We came up with a little logo (my hand scanned and inserted!) and there we were - at the very beginning of what was to become a truly memorable and challenging road ahead. We started the company by registering it through Mathew and Company with a very humble investment of 20 SLR. It was actually my wife Rowena who gave me the idea to start a consultancy company. It was this overriding thought that gave way to High5 as you know it today. I was absolutely convinced that HR was, in fact, the ONLY true strategic advantage for an organization, and I was equally convinced that a mere change of the department's name (from personnel to HR) would not quite cut it if HR was to become a strategic partner to the organization. Can I, along with a few like-minded individuals, bring about a radical change in the way we view and manage the HR function here in Sri Lanka? When I (Vidusha) left Sara Lee Courtaulds, I did so to embark upon a journey of self-discovery.
